Words spoken are powerful to bring change
Ffald-y-Brenin overlooks the Gwaun Valley and looks up to Carn Ingli, the Mountain of Angels, where St Brynach was in the habit of spending time with God, seeking renewed grace for his ministry, in what we know as West Pembrokeshire in the 5th century.
Blessing abridged from Ffald-y-Brenin Friday Blessing and edited for Speen Church
HEAVENLY Father, we take Jesus’ delegated mantle of authority and in His Name we speak to every household in these hills and valleys, towns and villages and say to you:
“We bless you in the name of the Lord. We bless marriages to be strong and whole and marriage relationships to be loving, forgiving, merciful and strong. We bless every intergenerational relationship within each household with peace and love and understanding.
We bless all wholesome and supportive friendships. We bless your health and in Jesus’ name we resist any sickness or disease which seeks to invade these hills and valleys, saying to every person be well, be strong, be healthy. Any who are sick now we bless with the touch of Jesus and speedy recovery.
We bless your wealth, to use it well. We bless you with enough to live and enough to give. We bless the work of your hands that whatever you turn your hand to which is wholesome may be profitable. We bless every wholesome enterprise conducted by you that it may prosper and be successful. We bless the arable crops, and the grass of the fields and hillsides, the flocks and herds that they may be well and strong, and that they may multiply.
We bless our schools that they may be secure, safe places for teachers and pupils alike. We bless the young people’s capacity to learn and develop relationships and we bless their simple trust in Jesus that it may grow and become enriched.
We say to Speen Church and friends in other church fellowships, we bless you in the name of Lord, that the Holy Spirit may flow out from you in power. We bless the hearts of all who live in the hills and valleys with awareness of the love of God that you may be quickened to hear and respond to the Voice of the Living God.
We bless all who live and work in these Chiltern villages and towns nearby, that the blessings of the presence of the Kingdom of God may continually fall upon you.”
