You know people, who need you to bring them freedom, in Jesus

Dawkins book cover

The ministry of Jesus is fully transferable. He showed what we could do in Him – and should continue to do – saying that we would do even greater works. As we all learn to minister for Jesus, in every continent, with every kind of people, every day, this is just one dimension of how we are carrying out those greater works.

THIS continues Friday’s story about freeing a diminutive Puerto Rican woman from a demonic oppression which caused her to beat up her pastor and various friends. The Lord also used this experience to start Pastor Dave and his friends learning to become skilled prayer ministers for the kingdom.

This story might seem remote from many of us. However I have personally ministered to people from nice middle class areas who have been dedicated to the devil in childhood, and needed deliverance similar to this story.

As the Lord leads us to share the life and love of Jesus with people who have had some involvements with the dark side of life, they will come to us for help. They will be the ones most desperate to find the freedom that Jesus promised when He said said, “If the Son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed.

There are others who, unlike this story, are outwardly together yet unable to believe in Jesus or accept Him – they are held by a spiritual blindness (2 Cor. 4:4, 2 Cor 10:4). If we are to be there for them, we need to be more aware of the spiritual realm and able to ask God what is going on in their lives. Then we’ll know how to bring His order into it by confronting what He shows us lies behind that spiritual blindness that is holding them.

This may be done quietly in a prayer room without them knowing, but as Robby patiently reminds and encourages us: we have far more spiritual authority than we realise. It is up to us to take hold of it and use it.
Robby puts it like this: “God’s gift to you is ability, and your gift to God is availability, where He tells us, ‘You go first’.” This is like the occasion of the Feeding of the Five Thousand, where His words to the disciples were: “You feed them!”

Luke 9:16 (Message)
He…gave the bread and fish to the disciples to hand out to the crowd.

John Wimber used to quote a catch-phrase about how God works through us: “You go and I’ll show.” That’s the way God works with us.

To conclude, here is the sample prayer declaration which Robby shared at the end of his seminar.

Father, in the name of Jesus I thank You that You have given me authority over all the works of the enemy.
You have sent me because I am anointed to set captives free,
to break chains of injustice, to bring full liberation, because Christ is in me.
Right now, I rebuke every demonic attack against my brother/sister.

I take authority over you, Satan. You will obey me. You will do exactly as I say.

You will not torment this person any longer. In Jesus’ name.

(Then he says)  Listen and pray (e.g. bind those things away) as the Holy Spirit directs.
